This strong and attractive filly was bred by Biddestone Stud and is being syndicated on a lease basis. She is a filly that we are strongly considering adding to our band of broodmares in the future, as she looks a potentially useful racing prospect and her half-brother Il Primo Sole (trained by John Gosden) is regarded as a potential Group race performer. Il Primo Sole was one of the most impressive maiden race winners of the season when winning by 4 1/2L without coming off the bridle, earning him a Group 1 entry from his powerful stable. Had this filly been sent to the sales we would have expected her to achieve a considerable sum at auction. This filly is currently unnamed and all partners will be invited make name suggestions. She looks a forward type and will be prepared for a hopefully early start to this season.
Her sire: FOXWEDGE was a Group 1-winning sprinter by the Champion Sire Fastnet Rock. He was rated 128 by Timeform, the same rating as prolific sire Starspangledbanner. Foxwedge was a real speedster in Australia, just like other successful sires such as Fastnet Rock and Exceed And Excel, winning a Group 3 over 5.5f, a Group 2 over 6f, and the Group 1 Power Tracker William Reid Stakes over 6f. He has already made a tremendous start to his career as a stallion in Australia, where he was Champion 2nd Season Sire in 2016/2017. He is the sire of the multiple Group 1 and 2 winner Foxplay and several other Group and Stakes winners.

Her dam: SWEET ALABAMA was placed twice on the Flat and is a daughter of the smart stallion Johannesburg. Her first foal and runner Il Primo Sole is already a useful performer for John Gosden, impressively winning a maiden on his debut and earning himself a future Group 1 entry. Sweet Alabama is a daughter of the Listed winning Alybgood and comes from a very strong black type-producing family.
