ARCADIAN PEARL As I keep saying, he really looks fantastic. When we first started to school him in the indoor school we could hardly get him to walk over a pole, but after half an hour he was jumping superbly and was one of the best I’ve seen for years! We’re in good work with him now and I intend to step him and the other horses up a notch again next week.
13 September 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL All is going very well with Arcadian Pearl. He looks extremely well and along with all the others is doing miles of cantering on the sand and coping very well. He has been in the indoor school and he jumped extremely well and is ready next week to start schooling outside. Their work is stepping up every week and so far I am really pleased with him in every way.
6 September 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL looks great and is very well. He is in steady work and we will continue to build him gradually over the coming weeks.

ARCADIAN PEARL has had a quiet week. He is looking really well and is still on the walker. He is off back into training today. Here is a little video of him yesterday, please click on the following link to watch the video – https://youtu.be/BkMiNOjiqFM
31 July 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL is looking well and is still going on the walker every day.
24 July 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL is still doing really well on walker. It was also weigh-in week and he has put on 4kg.
17 July 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL has had a busy week. Hannah, our physio, has been to see him and she is very happy with how he is doing. He has also had new front shoes on. He is still on the walker and is looking really good.
11 July 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL has started work on the walker and is coping well. He really enjoyed seeing you all on Sunday.
You can watch a video of him on the horse walker at the following link – https://youtu.be/ok5sUDfx1GI
5 July 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL is progressing well. John Killingbeck, our vet, came to see him this week and he is very happy with his progress and he can begin light work on the walker. He has also finished his tens machine treatment and has also put on 10kg when we weighed him this week. He is looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday at the open day.
27 June 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL is still doing well. He is continuing to have the tens machines three times a week. The attached video shows him with the tens machine working on him. Please click on the following link to watch – https://youtu.be/3LhwOmRxDS4
20 June 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL is making good progress since having his front shoes on. He is still having the tens machine three times a week and has put on 34kg since he was last weighed a fortnight ago.
13 June 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL The above photos are two days apart and what a change in the weather! Arcadian Pearl is moving well this week, we have put shoes on him in front and he seems much more comfortable. With the addition of the TENS treatments, hopefully by the time he is re-examined by the physio, there will be a marked improvement in his back.
7 June 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL has put on 20kg and at 594 kg, is the heaviest of all the NH horses. He has also been seen by Hannah who has changed his TENS treatment slightly to include the area under the saddle and he is responding well. He has had his tendon scanned by John Killingbeck to make sure that all is well after the issue that he had in training with his tendon and hock. The tendon looks fine but there is still some debris remaining around the tendon sheath where it attaches to the hock. Since it is taking a while to clear, we will help it along with some ultrasound treatment.
31 May 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL is now turned back out after seeing the farrier, who is happy that whilst the feet are still sore, there is no abscess. We’re keeping a close eye on him to make sure nothing further develops but he seems very chilled and happy out in the field. He has also been seen by Katie our Chiropractor, because I wasn’t happy with the way he was moving, particularly with the near hind leg where he had an issue at Nicky Henderson’s. She found him to be sore under the saddle area and over the pelvis and treated him accordingly and suggested using a TENS machine 3 times a week to release the muscle spasms. I am delighted to report that he is greatly improved in his walk and seems more comfortable. We will also get him checked over next week by John Killingbeck (Vet) to make sure that all is as it should be. Our physio is also visiting the yard tomorrow to check over all the horses.
22 May 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL is in a stable at the moment, having become lame on his off fore. We initially suspected an abscess, but poulticing did not produce a result, so we now think he may just be footsore with the harder ground. The farrier is here tomorrow, so we will see what he has to say and if front shoes can go back on, I would hope that Arcadian Pearl is back out in the field by the end of the week. He is very relaxed a well in himself, weighing in at a very respectable 574kg this week.
17 May 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL is turned out with Black Sam’s Silver and the pair of them are relaxing and eating plenty of grass.
10 May 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL is fine and turned out. He had his teeth done this week and he is nice and chilled and eating away.
2 May 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL arrived here at the beginning of the week for his spring break. He looks well and went straight out into the field for a play with Black Sam’s Silver. You can watch a video of him in the field by clicking on the following link – https://youtu.be/VrrYZEfhlRU
24 April 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL looks great and he is sound. As I mentioned in my last report, he had been a little bit stiff and the physio has been working on his hamstrings. He has responded well to treatment and it is just a sign of him being a little bit immature. We have been keeping him on the flatter gallops and if we had been able to get onto the grass it would have been easier, but it has just been so dry and although we are having a spot of rain at the moment there is not enough significant rain forecast in the foreseeable future. We could carry on with him and hope that the weather breaks, but getting enough rain to work a couple of times on grass and then find nice ground in the period that follows is going to be difficult. I think that the sensible thing to do is to give him his spring break now. This will allow him to strengthen up further and we’ll be able to get him back in good time and ready for an early start to the new season. He has done all of educational work and is a horse that I like a lot, so we should be in a good place when he returns to training after his break.
13 April 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL I am up at Ayr at the moment and I left instructions for him to do just one steady canter this morning. He is a horse that I do like a lot, but since we have increased his work recently he has just got a little bit stiff, muscularly, so is showing signs of being a little weak at this stage. He will be fine but we are just going steady for a few days and I will reassess things with him next week.
1 April 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL looks fantastic but along with all of the horses he is having to make do with the all-weather at the moment. He strode up there nicely on Saturday morning and is in good form. It is just so dry and I wouldn’t dream of running a nice young horse on this ground at the moment. We still have time on our side at the moment and when the weather does break he will only need a couple of bits of work on the grass and we’ll be ready to go.
18 March 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL As previously mentioned we didn’t confirm his entry for the race at Newbury this Saturday. He is cantering away well and did a nice canter through on the grass on Saturday morning. He is coming along all the time and we’ll be able to get a run into him fairly soon. We are about a fortnight away from really pressing the button with him at home. He’s moving well and his head’s in the right place, I can’t tell you how good he is yet but I can tell you that he is not useless!
14 March 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL is doing really well and we are getting closer to his first run all of the time. He continues to look extremely well is pleasing with everything that he does.
6 March 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL really is a fantastic-looking horse. We are getting closer with him but I do feel that the bumper at Newbury on 23 March will come too soon. He moves well and does everything nicely, we used the grass gallops for the first time this year yesterday and I’m hoping he will get onto them in the next few days. He is well on target for a couple of runs this season, I just feel that Newbury will be too soon.
You can watch a video of him taken 6 March 2019 by clicking on the following link – https://youtu.be/IHF0UV3p_VY
27 February 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL is in fine form. He did a bit up the all-weather with another baby on Saturday morning, he did it well but it wasn’t much of a test for him. We really want to get some rain so that we can get them all onto the grass. A couple of bits on the grass and we should be ready to make a start with him. He looks very well, he has a very good temperament and moves well. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday morning.
22 February 2019
ARCADIAN PEARL is a really good-looking horse and he is very well in himself. He is over his equine flu booster and cantering away with the string. I haven’t got him onto the grass yet but hope to do so soon.
We have put a new date in the diary to go and see him in training at Nicky’s on Wednesday, 6 March, please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to join us.
13 February 2019
Arcadian Pearl is doing well, he looks very well and we think he has grown a bit over the last couple of months. I am hoping to get the four-year-olds as a bunch onto the grass for the first time in the next couple of weeks and that will give us more of an idea about how far away we are from running.
8 February 2019
I’m so sorry but we are going to have to cancel your planned visit on Monday morning due to the current situation with equine flu. We have been advised that nobody from the outside should be entering the yard and that is particularly so with larger groups. As soon as we know as a country what we are dealing with and the BHA/vets advise that we can return to business as usual, we will get a date rearranged for you.
Arcadian Pearl is absolutely fine. We have only just started back with the youngsters as a bunch and I’m now going very steadily with them, as they are the ones that would be more susceptible to equine flu. We are now keeping them completely separate from all other horses for this reason, until we know what we and the rest of the country are dealing with. Last week was a bit of a write off because of the weather, and we had an overnight temperature down to -18. He is healthy and well in himself.
28 January 2019
Arcadian Pearl is cantering away and looks very well. Weather-permitting, I hope to press on with him this week. We are looking forward to your visit on Monday the 11th – we will probably aim for a 10:45am start when we can see him cantering.
18 January 2019
Arcadian Pearl is out with the string and doing well, we will start gradually stepping him up in work now and I’m looking forward to making a start with him.
10 January 2019
Arcadian Pearl has resumed ridden exercise and all is well with him. He looks well in himself and I’m looking forward to getting him going again, as I think he is a nice horse.
31 December 2018
Arcadian Pearl His passport has come back and his name has been confirmed. I’m glad to say he is over his issue with his hock but he has only walked and trotted with a view to start cantering next week. A little break won’t have done him any harm as he has been doing plenty and seems quite forward, so although his break was enforced, it has more or less coincided with the same that we have done with the other three-year-olds and just had a quiet fortnight over Christmas, and re-vaccinate etc before we start a more serious build up. Happy New Year to you all.
19 December 2018
Arcadian Pearl Everything is improving and he will be ready to start cantering again next week. We have applied for his name and hopefully that will all be confirmed very soon.
15 December 2018
Arcadian Pearl is doing well and has been going steadily over the past week. We hope to be able start stepping him up in his work again soon.
Name chosen for Arcadio
Thank you to everyone for sending in your name suggestions. We are delighted to tell you that we have chosen the name Arcadian Pearl. Congratulations to Bridget Lance-Rawlings and Tim Murrills who both suggested this name, there were also several other name variations including Arcadian and Pearl that were suggested by a number of you. The name has now been applied for and hopefully the naming process will be completed within the next week or so.
6 December 2018
Arcadio I am pleased to say your 3yo by Arcadio has improved and has started exercise again with no repercussions. We have just been advised to go carefully for the next week or so as we bring him back to where he had gotten to. He still looks very well and the filling has gone down so hopefully all is OK and behind us.
30 November 2018
Arcadio is into his second week of rest due to a little swelling in a hock. It is settling down and he looks fantastic.
23 November 2018
Unfortunately your fellow does have a bit of swelling in a hock and we have been advised to give him a couple of weeks of rest to get it to settle down. He hasn’t done anything serious but obviously we must get it right before he can resume work, which is very boring. But, hopefully it won’t hold him up in the long run. He is looking great and has been pleasing us all so it is very frustrating but we do have plenty of time.
15 November 2018
I couldn’t be more pleased with him. He is taking his work very well and learning all the time. He goes very nicely and we are on target for a first run early in the New Year.
8 November 2018
Arcadio is continuing to do really well and is coming along nicely. As you can see from his work this morning, he goes very nicely and I think he’s a really nice horse.
You can watch a video of the Arcadio this morning at the following link – https://youtu.be/XKFmkC14JgM
31 October 2018
I’m really very happy with him and he continues to be the most forward of my three-year-olds. He had his flu jab at the weekend, along with the majority of my horses. The string has been cantering away steadily since and we’ll get them all back into full work over the course of the next few days.
26 October 2018
Arcadio is doing great, he’s cantering every day and coming along very well. I remain very pleased with him.
18 October 2018
Arcadio is coming along really well and I couldn’t be more pleased with him. He is cantering every day and the more that I see of him, the more I like him.
10 October 2018
Arcadio is cantering away and continues to really impress me. He is such a lovely young horse and he is forward in everything that he does.

27 September 2018
Arcadio has settled in really well and I’m very pleased with everything I’ve seen so far, and I hope you will be when you come and see him next Wednesday morning. The three-year-olds have been hacking around, doing little bits for education in groups. He looks a forward type of horse and at this stage I think he’s one of those that is going to come to hand quite quickly and that we’ll be getting on with.
13 September 2018
Arcadio has started back with the other three-year-olds, he is moving well, he’s a very good-looking horse and has a good attitude.
5 September 2018
Arcadio arrived last week and has settled in great. He looks like a lovely horse and he is very good-looking. He was slot straight in with the other three-year-olds who are all coming back into training now. We will gradually tip away with them all in a group and I am very much looking forward to training him for you.
27 August – 2 September 2018
Aracadio is well, his foot is all healed and he is back to his usual routine. We are hoping to get him away to Nicky Henderson this week.
6 August – 12 August 2018
Arcadio is fine again now and is being turned out during the day and in at night. He has also started on the horsewalker and will do this for three weeks or so.
30 July – 5 August 2018
Arcadio has spent the week on box rest, his abscess is finally starting to clear up, we are hoping to get him healed and back to his normal routine as soon as possible.
